Obama HQ opening draws 700

State Sen. Malcolm Graham thought he had an idea of what to expect when he helped open Democrat Barack Obama's Charlotte headquarters Thursday night.

"I went there expecting 50, 60, 70 people," he says. "And 700 showed up."
Lines wrapped around the headquarters on Elizabeth Avenue in the Elizabeth neighborhood as people broke into groups devoted to voter registration and other areas.

Getting 700 people to any political event, let alone a headquarters opening, is unusual, to say the least.

"I've never seen a grassroots movement take hold like that," Graham says. "It was just amazing to sit back and watch."

Charlotte is one of 13 Obama campaign offices across the state. Campaign officials say more than 3,000 people attended recent openings in nine communities.

Woot! There's my hometown! I'm up here in Massachusetts, but have been taking weekend trips to Pennsylvania on a regular basis, and plan to fly down to Charlotte and spend a good long time throwing in my time and effort there.

Keep making me proud!

way to go charlotte! we hope to deliver the same in fayetteville. Tactics to discredit Obama will not be successful. If you take over three thousand hours of any one persons comments, and cut and paste fragments of sentences you can make it say almost anything and most definitely change the context in which it was said. But more to the point Obama is the candidate and he is the people's choice. Go Obama!

HE pretends that he knows what it's like to be POOR & BLACK, BUT HE, NEVER BEEN there HIS TYPICAL WHITE GRAND MOTHER sent him to PRIVATE SCHOOLS so he would be teased, back then it was very UNPOPULAR TO BE MIXED RACE, but she stood by him and then HE ATTENED HARVARD, VERY POOR HUH, PLEASE YOU PEOPLE HAVE BEEN BAMBOOZLED, BY THE MASTER OF BAMBOOZLED OBAMABOOZLE.

Also, I have nothing against Senator Clinton or McCain. I just know in my heart, Senator Obama would be a better president for ALL the people of this country.

It's not just about you or me, it's about WE.

All the best to you.

OBAMA & His Cousin President Odinga of Kenya
I would like to know when the msm is going to address of OBAMA's involvement and support of RAILA ODINGA -the co-President of Kenya?
ODINGA was set up in the oil business by Muammar Quaddafi (no, I'm not kidding), was educated in Communist East Germany, named his first child "Fidel" (yeah, really) and when he and his followers disputed the election they torched a church with 100 christian woman & children inside--burning them alive. Odinga's followers continued to engage in "clear ethnic cleansing" according to US Envoy Jendayi Frazer. Perhaps most troubling is Odinga's links to Islamic extremists. On 8/29/07 Odinga signed a secret agreement (exposed 11/27) with Sheikh Abdullah Abdi in which he agreed to institute Islamic law in exchange for Abdi's support--thereby potentially enslaving millions of Kenyan women.
OBAMA campaigned for ODINGA ("your agent for change"-sound familiar) in August 2006--to such a degree that the Opposition called him Odinga's "stooge"

Any of these candidates are electable but because Obama's campaign is full of special interest money he will win the election, by purchasing it. The Obama campaign mastermind runs a media company - AKP Media. He also runs a Public Opinion Company ASK Public Strategies. The media company has relations with plenty of Lobbyists, Corporations and Politicians. The website spells it out. The Public Opinion group knows all about how to sway public opinion. You put the two together and you've got yourself the next President of the UInited States. We
are a country feeding off of reality tv. We prefer things handed to us. We like to hear certain words, spoken to us a certain way. The words sound appealing. It's a brilliant campaign, the candidate has no substance, but the words are spoken eloquently.

Ever wonder where Obama gets all that money?

In 2005, Obama joined Republicans in passing a law dubiously called the Class Action Fairness Act (CAFA) that would shut down state courts as a venue to hear many class action lawsuits. Long a desired objective of large corporations and President George Bush, Obama in effect voted to deny redress in many of the courts where these kinds of cases have the best chance of surviving corporate legal challenges. Instead, it forces them into the backlogged Republican-judge dominated federal courts.

By contrast, Senators Clinton, Edwards and Kerry joined 23 others to vote against CAFA, noting the “reform” was a thinly-veiled “special interest extravaganza” that favored banking, creditors and other corporate interests. David Sirota, the former spokesman for Democrats on the House Appropriations Committee, commented on CAFA in the June 26, 2006 issue of The Nation, “Opposed by most major civil rights and consumer watchdog groups, this Big Business-backed legislation was sold to the public as a way to stop "frivolous" lawsuits. But everyone in Washington knew the bill's real objective was to protect corporate abusers.”

In a new ad, Obama says, "I don’t take money from oil companies."

Technically, that's true, since a law that has been on the books for more than a century prohibits corporations from giving money directly to any federal candidate. But that doesn’t distinguish Obama from his rivals in the race.

We find the statement misleading:

* Obama has accepted more than $213,000 from individuals who work for companies in the oil and gas industry and their spouses.

* Two of Obama's bundlers are top executives at oil companies and are listed on his Web site as raising between $50,000 and $100,000 for the presidential hopeful.

"We Need More White People"
April 09, 2008 8:47 AM

At a Michelle Obama event, reporters from the Carnegie-Mellon University student newspaper "observed one event coordinator say to another, 'Get me more white people, we need more white people.' To an Asian girl sitting in the back row, one coordinator said, 'We're moving you, sorry. It's going to look so pretty, though.'

"'I didn't know they would say, "We need a white person here,"' said attendee and senior psychology major Shayna Watson, who sat in the crowd behind Mrs. Obama. 'I understood they would want a show of diversity, but to pick up people and to reseat them, I didn't know it would be so outright.'"

(For those who would criticize this blog for relying on a college newspaper, please recall how much the Obama campaign in its TV ads relied upon the support for his health care plan by the college newspaper the Daily Iowan.)

In any case, that Michelle Obama advance staffer just summed up the candidate's issues in Pennsylvania. They do, indeed, need more white people.

Obama''s Inconvenient Promise
Newsweek
In March, Barack Obama raised more than $40 million. John McCain raised $15 million. Guess which one is more enthusiastic about accepting public financing in the general election?
That would be--surprise!--McCain, who stands to gain $84 million in the bargain. But it wasn''t always this way. Last September, Obama filled out questionnaire from the Midwest Democracy Network that asked, "If you are nominated for President in 2008 and your major opponents agree to forgo private funding in the general election campaign, will you participate in the presidential public financing system?" Obama''s answer? A check next to the box marked "yes." Underneath, the Illinois senator elaborated:

In February 2007, I proposed a novel way to preserve the strength of the public financing system in the 2008 election. My plan requires both major party candidates to agree on a fundraising truce, return excess money from donors, and stay within the public financing system for the general election. My proposal followed announcements by some presidential candidates that they would forgo public financing so they could raise unlimited funds in the general election. The Federal Election Commission ruled the proposal legal, and Senator John McCain (R-AZ) has already pledged to accept this fundraising pledge. If I am the Democratic nominee, I will aggressively pursue an agreement with the Republican nominee to preserve a publicly financed general election.

To all you Hillary people who havent researched Hillary at all obviously...go to this site and see how honest and forthright your candidate really is...http:youtube.com/watch?v=xq8aopATYyw...I hope they convict them both and throw away the key...these people have threatened and maybe much worse to people that went against them...they are narcisstic and crimially inclined. Dont just fall for Hillarys smear..research her dirt also..because believe me the Republicans will...and oh will you be sdurprised..what she is doing to Obama the Republicans will do to her..she is lucky because Obama doesnt want to play dirty like she has him. But the Republicans wont care. And did you ever stop and ask yourself why the Republicans want to run against Hillary..because they know about the Clintons and they will use it. Oh and one more thing the Republicans hate the Clintons. So you better think and research before you make statements that the Clintons brainwash you into.
