Bob Johnson pushs Obama-Clinton ticket

Charlotte Bobcats owner Bob Johnson, an ardent supporter of Hillary Clinton, is asking the Congressional Black Caucus to back Barack Obama-Clinton ticket.

Johnson wrote wrote U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn of South Carolina, the highest-ranking black official in Congress, urgong his support. He talked about it today with CNN's John Roberts, who asked him if Clinton was aware of his efforts.

JOHNSON: "Absolutely. I talked with the senator, told her what I was doing. She didn't direct me to do it, but she certainly knows that I am doing it. I have been in touch with her all the way in my thinking about how we can move this country in a unified way, and she's prepared to be a part of that unity."

ROBERTS: Let me ask you, Bob, about the timing of this. You're doing it at 7:00, the day after he went over the finish line. Some people might say that by getting out this publicly on it, by going to Congressman Clyburn on it, you are trying to limit his options for who he can pick as a running mate. Almost forcing him to take Hillary Clinton.

JOHNSON: Not at all, John. In fact, let me correct something you've been saying. My letter was not a pressure letter. My letter was an urge and an encouragement.

ROBERTS: So when you say she's prepared to be a part of that unity, is she prepared to accept a slot on the ticket as the vice presidential running mate should it be offered to her?

JOHNSON: Well, John, Senator Clinton has said often that her most important thing is to deal with the key issues that affect the Democratic Party and affect the American people. And she is prepared to do that any way the party asks her to do. If the party asks her to be a part of electing Obama, she is going to work just as hard to get Obama elected as president as she worked as hard to seek the nomination during the primaries.

ROBERTS: But, Bob, obviously, she didn't say -- obviously, she didn't say to you, no, don't do this. I mean, that would be an indication that she would entertain the idea and would probably like the idea.

JOHNSON: Well, there's no question that Senator Clinton will do whatever she's asked to do for the party. And she would certainly, as she said, to some of the New York delegation, entertain the idea if it's offered.

Does anyone actually care what Bob Johnson thinks?

Hillary Clinton has some bad associations as well. IMHO, Bob Johnson has pimped and done more to harm blacks in this country worse than anyone I can think of. That putrid filth of BET that he created made us look worse than minstrel shows. Bob Johnson needs to get somewhere and SIT DOWN.

Then we would have to put up with Bill again. Let Obama do what he thinks is right. Next thing you know she would dump him and run herself in the future. What a master plan,16 more years of Billy.

Maybe Bob will be offered a cabinet position and he'll sell the Bobcats to someone who knows something about basketball.

Why is this news? Why should we (Charlotteans) care what Mr Johnson thinks. He doesn't seem to care what we think.

What a joke this clown is, who cares what he thinks and slick Hilly & Willey need to return to their Long Island mansion. Keep the fighting draft dodger home and let he sing "Stand by your scumbag husband". They are a good fit for the party of jim "steal an election" Black; "steal the money" Wright amd Teddy "leave her to drown while I spin" Kennedy.

No one in Charlotte cares about Bob Johnson's basketball team. Why in the world would they care who he supports for President?

Why don't you just pick somebody's name out of the phone book and report on who he/she supports? It would have the same newsworthiness.

The only ticket Bob should be pushing is the one fans need to purchase to see his Bobcats.
His organization has made more mindnumbing mistakes than Larry King has marriages.

Bob Johnson is a nut. I wouldn't even want his endorsement if I were Barack...Johnson just wants the Clintons back in the White House...however he can get them there.

Why is a BLOG the top news story on Charlotte.com? It's obvious that it is really the Observer that supports the 'dream ticket'.... I echo the comments of most on this board, who cares what Bob Johnson thinks. Mr. Editor, please provide us with newsworthy 'front page' items instead of political opinions of people that your readers could care less about.

Anonymous said...

I agree, who cares what he thinks, and why give it some much coverage? Observer must be lacking for news today!

Seriously, who cares what Bob Johnson thinks? This is NOT news.

Bob Johnson...NEGRO PLEASE!!!!?

Anonymous said...

Of course, Bob has a history of backing losers and then complaining, doesn't he? He completely dissed Barack while endorsing Hillary. Since she has now been a proven loser, he is trying the manipulate the process to get his way.

Plus, is there anywhere in the country who cares what Bob thinks?

Even more reason not to support Bob's cats.

i hear ya sister or brother ! who cares?

genep...Long Island Mansion? Gey your facts straight

Paul, you said it best, let's find him something else to do so he can sell the Bobcats to someone who has a clue.

He can help the new police chief fight some of the terrible crime in charlotte, the triple shooting? hmmmm...

Bob Johnson continues to not have a clue on who is customer base is or know when to shut his mouth.

Watch ticket sales continue to decline with this clown at the helm. Be smart... sell it to Felix or Burton while the franchise still has some worth. The way you're heading, you'll be scratching your head and asking "What happened?" just like Shinn did

Bob, you have done such a great job with the Bobcats. You truly should be kissing up to HIllary. Suck-up. Shut up and pay attention to your baseball team. Oh yeah, you probably don't even know it's not a baseball team.

Bob Johnson can’t be serious, can he? He’s asking the Congressional Black Caucus to listen to him? He must not realize the majority of blacks in this country despise him. The only people who respect Bob’s opinion are the buffoons bringing the race down, by shucking and jiving on the videos on BET. THAT is his legacy to Black America, and he thinks we care what he has to say??? As much as I supported the NBA coming back to Charlotte and still like the fact that its here; truth is, with moves like this, myself and most Blacks in this community feel he can’t sale the team and get out of here fast enough. He’s embarrassing himself.

Typical Bob Johnson double talking. And saying nothing that matters. So now that Obama is thepresumptive nominee he is suddenly able to lead where a few months back according to Johnson, he was only there because he is black?!?!?! Gotta ask what does Bob Johnson want? Seems like he really wants a spot in the White House and will stop at nothing to get it.

not being dumb, but can someone tell me what is a black caucas? is it linked to the NAACP?

Anonymous said...

I need you to understand this clearly - we, the people, of all colors, but African Americans in particular DO NOT WANT BILL JOHNSON TO HAVE A PLATFORM. Stop interviewing him. His opinion on political matters is about as relevant as Roseanne Barr's. STOP.

Unknown said...

I am baffled as to why this lands on the front page of the Observer's site, much less on top of Obama's history making from last night.

Bob Johnson needs to stick to what he knows, and politics ain't it. Come to think of it...

Anonymous said...

Yes, Observer I agree with many on this board - stop - please, please, please stop entertaining and interviewing this clown/buffoon - who should be taken to task for his exploitation of black people and black women in particular, when he decided to "create and unleash on the world" black entertainment(NOT) television -- he is a joke -- and most black people and people period - don't like him. He's not intelligent - he's an opportunist - with his latest venture being the Bobcats! Geez! what a JOKE!!!!

Observer - give your audience some credit!

Who cares. He just came out early before his boy got going good and didnt want to look wishy washy. We aint stupid. 95%of blacks are for dey bro and prob more like 100% or same amount as was for the OJ verdict.
BJ would have stuck with her had Obama not done so well though but does anybody really give a ratz azz about this most pc pampered undeserving Washington DC resident BJ who has been raping the QC like his own personal French ho since day one? He never deserved a new big new arena uptown or anything he has gotten for nothing off us taxpayers. We despise the guy. Jeesh.

This suggestion coming from a man who can't organize a good management team in his basketball business. This coming from a man who like Clinton is so self-absorbed that he just doesn't get it that's it's not all about you. This coming from a man who couldn't understand why local businesses weren't buying more interest in his organization (RECESSION- DAH!!!). This coming from a man who has chosen an "absentee" genral manager to run basketball operations.

Bob Johnson, who are you to make such a statement??? You've let BET go from an informative, cultural channel to a virtual disgrace to all Black people. You've come into Charlotte and given us a team that no one cares about and made ticket prices so high we don't want to attend games. And you've barely shown your face in the Charlotte community yet you want us to support you. Go somewhere and sit down - the VP selection is up to the democratic presidential nominee, not an arrogant sell-out like you.

Didn't Bob Johnson try to inject Barack Obama's self-confessed youthful drug use into the campaign and then deny that's what he was trying to do?

Who's doing drugs now, Bob?

You have to ask yourself what kind of favors does Bob Johnson owe to the Clintons. Don't think for one one minute that good ol' Bob didn't promise his allegiance to the Clinton clan in order to secure their support in his BET/Viamcom deal. He needed their support in Washington D.C. to push it through. He owes favors and one way to pay off this debt is to get every black person (with any clout)he knows to push spoiled loser Hillary unto Obama as his veep. As rich and smart as he is, Bob just doesn't get it.

Anonymous said...

Is that Bob Johnson's picture with the article titled "Bob Johnson pushs (pushes) Obama-Clinton ticket. At first glimpse, it looked alot like Mary Francis Berry... Come on Bob, early on you like Senator Clinton had nothing kind or positive to say about The 2008 Presumptive Democratic Nominee, now all of a sudden, we (you & camp hillary) want to be is VP. Nope, I don't think so my brother. As stated earlier, Mr. Johnson, you my friend should focus on Bobcat Tickets and stay out of the Political Arena...

Anonymous said...

Obama's campaign is built on change. We have had 20 years of Clinton or Bush in the white house. Putting Hillary on the ticket would mean another 4 - 16 years of a Clinton in the white house. What part of that is change, Bob?

Anonymous said...

Please someone get Bob Johnson the heck out of Charlotte. He has no business sense, except to exploit the African American community. He thinks he has political influence because he's rich, yet all and all he's just a pretty worthless individual.

Anonymous said...

Let see...lets compare the Clinton years vs the Bush years...Peace vs War, Boom vs Recession, $3.00 gas vs $4.00 gas, Full employment vs job reductions, Housing Boom vs Bust...I think I'd take 4 more years of the Clinton's hands down

Anonymous said...

Bob, the decision for a VP is Obama's decision and his decision alone. So butt out. And why would Obama listen to you anyway after you tried to slander him during the campaign with that "in the hood" nonsense.

Anonymous said...

Mr. Obama will make his decision without any help fro Mr. Johnson.

Anonymous said...

I suppose because Bob Johnson has a lot of money, he thinks people should listen to him? And, God forbid, take his suggestions seriously?

You can BET (sorry, no pun intended) that he's looking for personal gain should Hillary get the nod for VP.

I'm another person who wonders why the Observer continues to give this guy a platform, or any type of exposure. This is by no means "news."

Hey, if I write a letter someone with my recommendations, can I get in the paper?

The guy's a hyena, pure and simple.

Bob Johnson is an idiot. He made billions of off rappers who only did things to hurt African American culture. He's pimped out his own people for a buck. Plus, he doesn't understand or care about running the Bobcats, so why should anyone listen to his opinion, especially after what he said about Barack in Jan.

Anonymous said...

Seeing this makes me wish even more that Bob would just sell the Bobcats to someone in Charlotte who actually makes running the team their #1 priority. I really don't care what candidate you support Bob.

Anonymous said...

He becomes increasingly ignorant every time he speaks. I am so tired of this homeboy.

Bob Johnson is a foot shufflin' house negro who only cares about lining his pockets. He has ruined two generations of young and impressionable African-Americans with videos of glorification of drugs, violence and abuse of women. He sold out a long time ago and not just on BET. Just google Bob Johnson on Social Security and see how working with the Bush Administration, he tried to privatize social security for personal gain. Why ask him to sell the Bobcats and leave, why not "just say no" to any ticket sales at the Arena.

He is nothing more than a minstrel show. Money does not buy respect. He has proven that not only does he dislike black folks but he must dislike his daughter and mother as well. Otherwise, he could not have allowed the portrayal of women in the disgusting videos he allowed to go out over his billion dollar airwaves. See ya Uncle Buck! You will soon be buck dancing for your massa' Hillary cause you sure didn't deliver the vote as I'm sure you convinced her that you could. Wonder what was promised in return. Why don't you go on BET and buck dance, sucka!
