Meck Dems: 2011 a good omen for 2012

Mecklenburg County Democrats, still basking in last week's election results, hope to build on that success in 2012 -- and help Barack Obama in the process.

Local party strategist Tom Chumley, speaking to the Uptown Democratic Forum this week, noted that Obama took nearly 62 percent of the county's vote in 2008. That was a margin of 100,000 in a state he won by just 14,000 over Republican John McCain.

He said with turnout efforts like last week's and demographic changes that continue to trend for Democrats, that could rise to 65 percent. If turnout stays the same, that could mean 13,000 more Obama votes in Mecklenburg.

And that could make a difference in a tight race. A recent survey by Raleigh's Public Policy Polling, a Democratic firm, showed Obama leading most Republican hopefuls in the state but trailing Mitt Romney by a point.

A 65 percent turnout for the president in Mecklenburg, Chumley said, means "we carry the state."

Wake up people! Both parties are corrupt. These people are robbing us blind.

I am fully awake and quite frankly this country is better off with President Obama than it would have been under continued Republican governance that got this country in the mess it's in. Now if we can just get Republicans to stop running interference of the President's policies, we may be able to make quicker progress. I'm guessing with the right effort, the President gets a 70% cushion from Charlotte voters.

Would you be better off with someone like this?
Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann said Thursday that her campaign is helped by the fact that she hasn't "had a gaffe," an interesting -- though perhaps not surprising -- claim considering her knack for making misstatements.

"As people are looking at the candidate that is the most conservative and the most consistent candidate, I've been that candidate. I haven't had a gaffe or something that I've done that has caused me to fall in the polls," Bachmann told Greta van Susteren in a Fox News interview. "People see in me someone who's genuinely a social conservative, a fiscal conservative, a national security conservative and a Tea Partier. I'm the whole package."

And what will those Democrats do when all the Republicans have moved out of the county to avoid the idiocy? Where will the tax dollars come from that they love to spend on their toys?

I can't imagine what I would do if you wrote anything favorable to republicans. How much do the dumocrats pay for this stuff.

It is advantageous for Mecklenburg County Democrats to concentrate on getting a strong response and turnout from their home city, towns and county in next year's elections, but it is equally important to the Democratic Party's fortunes in the Old North State in 2012 for the chief strategists for next year's Democratic National Convention to adopt an inclusive philosophy in welcoming neighbors from all sections of both Carolinas to the party's celebration in Charlotte.

Both the Democratic and Republican parties have special regional strengths in various parts of North and South Carolina, so when the Democratic Party's leading politicos step up to the plate at convention time next September, they will need to call upon the great political and cultural diversity of both their home state of North Carolina and their neighboring of South Carolina to help put both states into the Democratic column in the 2012 presidential election.

You should also ask yourself this... are you better off today than you were in '07 and '08?

Remember just 3-4 years ago the previous GOP administration left us with the worst economy since the Great Depression. Also consider that today's R's want to enact the same policies as the previous R's... Wall St deregulation, corp welfare, etc...

Obama is the worst president ever and nobody knows why he spends 3 times what big spender Bush spent.

Apparently its OK for his lib scum to demand he be reelected for 4 more yrs in spite of his utter failings.

Unemployment was 2% under Bush. Its 10% under Obama who knows nothing about business.

GET THIS IDIOT OUT OF THE WHITE HOUSE.

Clearly Michelle Obama and Joe Biden were only trying to start trouble so they could scream racism at the NASCAR race.

Race fans pay 1000s of dollars to attend these events and do not want liberal troublemakers ruining their day or whatever they were up to which was no good.

They should have remained in cognito and remained anonoymous if they wanted to see a race. That wasnt the case obviously.
