Ex-NASCAR driver weighs in on the 8th District race

Former NASCAR driver Lake Speed is featured in a new TV ad for Republican Tim D'Annunzio in the 8th District GOP runoff.

Speaking on behalf of We The People NC, a Tea Party offshoot that has endorsed the Hoke County businessman, Speed calls D'Annunzio "a Christian who knows the Constitution and our founding principles very well. Like our nation's founders he's pledged his life, fortune and sacred honor restoring our nation to its principles."

D'Annunzio faces Harold Johnson in a June 22 GOP runoff. His ad will air nightly in Charlotte on Fox.

Johnson, a former Charlotte sportscaster, has had his own NASCAR help. Dale Earnhardt Jr., team owner Felix Sabates and racing figure Ray Evernham have made contributions. Three-time Cup series champion Darrell Waltrip wrote a letter soliciting support.

Well folks, this race is officially over. Harold Johnson's only chance now is if Cole Trickle comes out and endorses him. D'Annunzio definitely pulled a race driver endorsement coup with this one.

Lake, have you ever heard of "buyer's remorse?" How well do you really know D'Annunzio? Did you not read the fine print? He admitted the following: AWOL, jail time, kicked out of military for smoking pot, arrested for drunk driving. Not quite the model citizen we were hoping for and certainly not Congressional material.

Either Lake "touched the wall" one too many times while racing or he and D'Annunzio are skydiving again without their helmets.

Too little, too late for D'Annunzio. He needed 40%. This is the LAST place he wants to be right now.

Earth to Tim D'Annunzio, come in Tim.

A REVOLUTION IS COMING....Arm yourselves.

D'Annunzio can't win in November and certainly will not win this runoff. The arrest and military records are the least of his problems here.

D'Annunzio will destroy D'Annunzio.

D'Annunzio has destroyed D'Annunzio.

A quote from yesterday's "Christswar" post:

"Do you understand this? When you are born again the Holy Spirit actually becomes a part of your inner self and God Himself is living in you. That becomes your new identity. The Holy Spirit then works in you until Christ is born in you. That means you have allowed your old self to die and have agreed with the Father’s purpose and mission over yours."

Many questions does this raise for supporters of D'Annunzio. Is his campaign divinely inspired? Has Christ been born in Tim yet, and if so, what ramifications would this have? Are the Christian voters of the 8th district committing heresy if they do not vote for Tim?

I agree with several of the previous posts. This was Tim D'Annunzio's race to lose, and he has. Too many missteps by D'Annunzio himself and staff. He could have won the thing outright if he had just kept his mouth shut. Everyone is now is lined up against him, a swell of support he will not be able to over come.

June 22:
Harold Johnson 53%
Tim D'Annunzio 47%

Oh, I'm definitely arming myself if D'Annunzio wins. Gotta be ready to defend myself from such a goon. He might try to beat me up just like he did his wife.

May 16 Tim D'Annunzio blog.

"The downward decline of man will be completed... Total collapse of world economy by end of year 2010."

Did any of you see D'Annunzio on CNBC this morning?

Just not sure this is the message of hope and prosperity the 8th District is looking for.

Anonymous said...

A downward collapse by the end of 2010? And he wants to be in congress right after this happens???

Anonymous said...

Mr. D'Annunzio did not beat up his wife. Those are lies from the media. He is a very good person now.

Anonymous said...

From earlier Anonymous post.

"He admitted the following: AWOL, jail time, kicked out of military for smoking pot, arrested for drunk driving."

PROVE THIS OR SHUT UP!

"He admitted the following: AWOL, jail time, kicked out of military for smoking pot, arrested for drunk driving."

It's all true. He admits to it in his blog. If you want proof, read his blog and the man himself will provide it.

D'Annunzio got 37% of the vote in May and will get no more than that in June. Huddleston and Jordan now endorse Johnson, so you can put those percentages in his column. Not to mention those who may be swayed by Robin Hayes' endorsement of Johnson.

D'Annunzio has no chance and soon he'll be completely broke and go away into obscurity where he belongs.

Anonymous said...

I know D'Annunzio pretty well. Having been in the military, I know a principle based leader when I see one vs some poll chaser.

You may not like Tim's stances... But he does not hide behind polls.

You could do a lot worse than a guy that is honest and fights for what he believes in.

Anonymous said...

Tim D'Annunzio is an American patriot. Harold Johnson is nothing more than a television talking head. The "Big Guy" was a dummy then and hasn't changed since.

Anonymous said...

"He(D'Annunzio)admitted the following: AWOL, jail time, kicked out of military for smoking pot, arrested for drunk driving."

Smoking marijuana while packing the parachutes of fellow soldiers???

I guess the military has its own definition of "honest, principle based leader and patriot."

Anonymous said...

By going AWOL and smoking marijuana while in the service, D'Annunzio disgraced the uniform and himself. The older generations will NEVER view that as having anything to do with leadership or patriotism. No way this guy gets elected, no way.

Anonymous said...

Oliver North is a principle based leader and patriot. Not Tim D'Annunzio.

Anonymous said...

Amen to last post!

Anonymous said...

Did D'Annunzio assault his wife and brother? Can anyone confirm?

Anonymous said...

I hear he is the anti Christ. What else can we say to beat his views? Personal attacks always work against someone with real intellect and solutions. Keep it up. Can we blame him for a crisis? I hear he got a C in third grade reading and fought his brother who teased him for it. What can we do. He is winning and we can't have that. Can we blame him for the oil in the Gulf? We have to do something. Everyone keep whistling, we will be past the grave yard in a few.

Anonymous said...

I heard he wrote on his blog on May 16, "behold, I come as whirlwind." and later that day tornados hit Hoke county where he lives. Can we make the case he is the antichrist? I hear he says it is Obama and calls him the destroyer. D'Crazio says he wants to restore the foundation. Can we spin that into him being a destroyer?

Anonymous said...

D'Annunzio had one shot and that was on May 4th. He lost then and he'll lose on June 22. My question to D'Annunzio is this. Will you challenge Harold Johnson again in 2012?

Anonymous said...

Tim D'Annunzio, Anti Christ no, Grinch yes.

Anonymous said...

The Tea Party will rescue D'Annunzio and propel him to victory in June and November. Just you wait. Our armies and militias are behind you all the way Tim.

Anonymous said...

funny. only dems, establishment repubs, Harold supporters, get on. have several posts not published, what's with that Observer. keep whistling.

Anonymous said...

I've noticed that also Observer. Let us speak too even when we support the other candidate.

Anonymous said...

D'Annunzio represents what has become the "American Taliban" - Christian extremists who want to destroy America.

Tim & the Taliban both agree that... we need to force our version of religion in our schools, courts, and laws. Guns & violence/war are cherished institutions and ways of advancing our political & religious views.

Tim & the Taliban - two sides of the same theo-fascist coin.

Lake Speed has only one NASCAR victory in his racing career. That is one more win than Tim D'Annunzio will have in his political career.

Anonymous said...

NOW HEAR THIS! You need to lay off Tim D'Annunzio and Lake Speed. Let them enjoy their mediocre politcal and race careers in peace.

Anonymous said...

Mr. D'Annunzio, if Harold Johnson defeats you in the runoff will you endorse him?

Mr. Johnson, would you accept Mr. D'Annunzio's endorsement as Tim is a bit kookoo.

Anonymous said...

The better question is will Harold Johnson and his staff agree to work for Tim D'ANnunzio on
June 23rd?

Anonymous said...

I live in Hoke county and I hear that the Republican establishment, the The Hayes, CAFTA, Fetzer establishment and the Johnson Campaign are working with the Observer on an investigative piece that is designed to destroy D'Annunzio and give Johnson his only hope for victory. They have been here in the county digging into everything they can find. Seems the attack will be the same as all the others.
I live here and know Tim and he is a great American with a troubled distant past. He has turned his life around and has never lied about his past. These attacks will be based in events that have happened as long ago as 35 years. I grant him his redemption and I will do so to not deny myself of the same. Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.

Anonymous said...

Let him who has not gone AWOL, served time in jail, been kicked out of military for smoking pot or been arrested for drunk driving cast the first stone. That will be most of us.

Anonymous said...

Very secular, but not what Christians believe.

Anonymous said...

D'Annunzio is a rock thrower, he must be sinless.

Anonymous said...

Tim D'Annunzio has nothing to hide. He will welcome any and all examination and scrutiny.

Anonymous said...

You still don't get it. None sinless, only some who only see others sins. Some want forgiveness but refuse to forgive. Christians believe that if you repents and turn from your sin you can be forgiven. The secular world believes there is no difference between the repentant and the unrepentant sinners. The secular only condemns or forgives based on their own personal advantage and ignores repentance and redemption. That is what I mean when I say, very secular, but not what Christians believe.

Anonymous said...

I would respectfully say to my Republican friend in Hoke County that Tim D’Annunzio’s not so distant past and pattern of bad judgment is not near as troubling as what D’Annunzio has done lately. His unsettling blogs complete with bizarre predictions, his encounter with State Representative Justin Burr, his storming off the Cumberland County stage, his verbal attack on NC’s Republican chair and the unwarranted attacks on those he fears and others in the party and the fact that most of his campaign staff has left the D'Annunzio campaign. Is this really an individual we would be proud to call Congressman? I remind you that 63% of voters on May 4th thought otherwise.

D’Annunzio lacks basic intellect, possesses no common courtesy, shows no maturity and shares an aura of paranoia not seen in a politician since Richard Nixon. Forgive the boy but we hold accountable the man. It was not a boy using illegal drugs in the military nor was it a boy behind the wheel of a vehicle while drinking.

Do we wish to send Larry Kissell back to Washington to serve Nancy Pelosi? If your answer is “no” then we can not vote for Tim D’Annunzio on June 22.

Anonymous said...

Go to bed Harold. And as I said, Very secular, the demonization and all that, but spin is not reality and never a substitute for knowing the issues and the truth. I choose forgiveness and truth.

Anonymous said...

The Jordan and Huddleston supporters will be looking for a candiate with emotional stability and sound judgment that can defeat Kissell in November. D'Annunzio has neither and can not defeat Kissell. The truth is often harsh.

Yesterday, Harold Johnson's new campaign ad was aired. And he stated that
he was endorsed by Robin Hayes, the former Congressman from 8th District...

In 2008, Robin Hayes said some words. However when he was confronted he
refused to stand by them by denying he even said them.
He said "Liberals hate real Americans that work and accomplish and achieve
and believe in God. Thats a great comparison"

Hey Robin where is your BACKBONE? You spoke truth man! What the hell
happened? Then you had to go and deny that you denied saying it?

Now how about those job numbers? The unemployment numbers released are
higher than the last 3 months. Yet, the President seems to have saved us from
the brink! There I go again, easily distracted...so these numbers led me to think about
all the jobs that 8th District has lost.

Robin Hayes cast 3 votes during his tenure in office that cost the people of 8th District
jobs, this first one was essentially abdicating his role in the political process and giving more power to the President of the United States. "In 2001, Republican House leaders pressed then-Rep. Robin Hayes to support so-called fast-track trade authority, even though displaced textile workers from home told him it would cost his district jobs, Jim Morrill of The Charlotte Observer reports. With time ticking down, the vote was 214-214."

“Fast Track” is the process that gives the executive branch the authority to negotiate and write trade agreements and delegates away Congress’ constitutional power to set the terms of U.S. trade policy."

"Hayes has drawn heavy criticism for voting in favor of the Central American Free Trade Agreement. Hayes had earlier voiced his strong opposition to the measure, saying he felt it would cause further loss of textile industry jobs in his district. In the weeks before the vote, Hayes stated that he was "flat-out, completely, horizontally opposed to CAFTA," saying that "it's not in the best interests of the core constituency I represent," and that "there is no way I could vote for CAFTA". Hayes first voted "no" but was pressured at the last minute to change his vote by prominent House Republicans. The final tally was 217-215 with Hayes casting the deciding "yes" vote (a tie would have defeated the motion).

Hayes played a similar role in the passage of the Trade Act of 2002, which shifted some trade agreement authority from Congress to the President. Though Hayes had said "We're a definite 'no' until we get some help on textiles," he was lobbied hard by the White House and congressional leadership to vote for the measure. Hayes waited until the last minute before voting "yes," and broke down in tears on the floor of the House.

"Three years ago, Hayes offered the tie-breaking vote on Fast Track in exchange for a Bush administration promise to secure funds to hire 72 customs officers to fight textile transshipment. While Hayes fought for, and eventually secured appropriations for the agents, the Bush administration, to this day, has still not hired these agents. " http://www.citizen.org/documents/Hayes_Post_CAFTA_Deals_090905_FINAL.pdf

Three times, Robin Hayes succumbed to pressure from the President and voted against the people. Is this an indication of how Harold Johnson may vote when push comes to shove? Or when he is offered a big fat pork laden promise?

We The People of the Sandhills believe that we need a representative that KNOWS what it is like to start and run a business. We need a representative that KNOWS the Constitution and has the intestinal fortitude to stand up against those in his own party, who refuse to abide by it. We don't need another spineless representative that refuses to stand up for what he KNOWS is right!

We The People of the Sandhills said...

Will Harold stand up for the people of the 8th District or will he follow the example of Robin Hayes?

Is it me or do those elected not realize what they say is recorded for posterity?
As we have seen with the Connecticut Attorney General who has LIED about his service IN Vietnam.
Not that he served DURING Vietnam, but actually served there. As he continues to say that these were "a few words misspoken", I continue to wave the BS flag!

"At a ceremony honoring veterans and senior citizens who sent presents to
soldiers overseas, Attorney General Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut rose
and spoke of an earlier time in his life. “We have learned something important
since the days that I served in Vietnam,” Mr. Blumenthal said to the group
gathered in Norwalk in March 2008

This was not the first time a few words were misspoken by Dick,
"In 2003, he addressed a rally in Bridgeport, where about 100 military families
gathered to express support for American troops overseas. “When we returned,
we saw nothing like this,” Mr. Blumenthal said. “Let us do better by this
generation of men and women.”

As a spouse of an Active Duty Soldier, who has served honorably for 23 1/2 years,
I am highly offended by the attempts to make his service MORE than it was, but
I digress...

We, in this country, are in dire need of turning back to basic principles such as integrity and honesty. For too long we have continued to reelect people who are liars and do not have the intestinal fortitude to stand up for what is right.

Attention Tea Party Patriots!
Don’t take your eyes off your goal. You knew that the Democrat and the Republican parties would fight against anyone who tried to run against them because a candidate, who appeals to the beliefs and goals of the American Tea Party Revolution and those who support a Constitutional Republic, will not join in lock step with the party leaders and operatives. This just goes to prove that. Remember where this started… the country was asked a couple of straight forward questions.
1) Do you like the direction you see this country headed?
2) Do you want things to continue going in that direction and getting worse?
Unfortunately both parties are trying to “Play Politics” and divert your attentions and make everyone question the only candidate who has knowledge of our countries Founding documents and the Founders ideals for this wonderful country. The “Powers that be” are trying their best to destroy us from within because if we stand strong as we have for decades we cannot be destroyed from abroad. Maybe this man has had some troubles/problems in his life. The questions we need to be asking at this time are:
1) Do we believe that someone can and does change because of developing a relationship with their creator?
2) Does Mr. D’Annunzio have the knowledge, ability, desire and strength of character to make the kind of difference that Tea Party patriots are looking for in Washington?
If anyone can answer yes to both of those questions then it really doesn’t matter what Jim Morrill and the Charlotte Observer (Disturber) have to say. Frankly, since the Charlotte Disturber is so adamant against Mr. D’Annunzio that makes me want to get to know him even better. Since they oppose him so much, he probably is the kind of guy that we the people of the 8th district are looking for. I hear that he’s having a Town Hall Meeting in Oakboro at the Oakboro Music Hall this coming Wednesday, the 26th at 7:00. I think I’ll go find out the truth for myself instead of relying on people like Jim Morrill who simply thrive on misinformation and dissention. That way I can ask Mr. D’Annunzio about these things myself and then make an informed decision based on the true facts "directly from the horse’s mouth" so to speak.

Comments and exaggerations just to demonize the guy are the brand of politics that causes people to hate politics. These are tactics that will bring a back lash. I sure wouldn't want to be in Observer's and Fetzer's shoes if or when this is investigated and none of it is found to be true.

Think about it said...

As far as the Clt. Disturber - we all know them to be nothing but a liberal rag. Mr. Morrill is nothing more than a letter to the editor writer, he wouldn't know a true piece of journalistic material if it slapped him down. As for Mr. Fetzer, well I hope he can enjoy his last year as the Chairman. I assure you that there will be a change in the Republican Party leadership starting with the county level and going up. Republican Party patriots are tired of this type of trash from the "LEADERSHIP ???" and it's going to end. You guys had better take notice and get your bags packed. Like the ole country boy said "cuz you's outa here".

D'Annunzio says he was kicked out of the military for smoking pot.

Did D'Annunzio make this up? Is pathological lying a long term efffect of heroin use?

Mark 13:22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall show signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

Mat 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Read as you listen to Taps in the background.

North Carolina's five Republican congressmen said today they're endorsing Harold Johnson in the 8th Congressional District.

The announcement makes no mention of Johnson's opponent, Tim D'Annunzio, but the news is yet another blow for the Raeford businessman who was called "unfit" for public office by the head of the state GOP on Monday.

The statement Tuesday by Reps. Howard Coble, Sue Myrick, Walter Jones, Virginia Foxx and Patrick McHenry described it as a "bold show of unity" because they believe Johnson best reflects the Republican Party's "conservative values."

The criticism of D'Annunzio comes amid news reports since the weekend about his past arrests, drug abuse and a child custody battle in the 1990s.

A spokesman for the National Republican Congressional Committee also said the candidate would seriously jeopardize the party's chances of beating Rep. Larry Kissell, a first-term Democrat.

On Sunday, the Charlotte Observer reported about a 1995 psychiatric evaluation in which a doctor said D'Annunzio told him he once entered a drug program for heroin dependence and was jailed three times for offenses including burglary and assaulting a police officer. The newspaper said D'Annunzio's former wife, Anne, claimed in court records he had told her that "God was going to drop a 1,000-mile high pyramid" on Greenland and that he had found the Ark of the Covenant in Arizona.

The Republicans are blowing it again and Kissells' going to get two more years (and probably two more after that when Obama is back on the ticket). Here's why: I think Johnson will win the run-off and become the Republican nominee. But D'Annunzio will not go quietly...he'll run as an independent financing his campaign with personal dollars to the extent necessary. Johnson and D'Annunzio will split the Republican vote and Kissell will limp back to Washington with less than 50% of the vote. And if D'Annunzio manages to win the run-off and become the nominee, then he'll lose to Kissell in a two-way race because the primary has been too damaging. He is, as a result of this fight, unelectable. This is now Kissell's election to lose and we Republicans have no one to blame but ourselves.

This morning I spent four hours making calls for Tim D'Annunzio. The majority of people seem to be even more galvanized in their support of Tim, by the attacks of the NC GOP. The phones were ringing off the hook with calls of support, even from people that had supported Harold in the primary. And more people have volunteered since before the May 4th election.

I met Tim D'Annunzio in November, at his office in Raeford. My first impression was this was a man of passion. For his family, his country and for the Constitution, which at one time he was sworn to defend against all enemies, foreign and domestic. I thought to myself that he should have been a candidate for the Constitution Party. Because his beliefs and stance on the issues were more in line with them than that of the Republican Party of today.

We The People had heard a rumor that Jim Morrill was working on a story on Tim. What was surprising in this story was Tom Fetzers supposed shock at some of the things said. Tim was quite honest with Fetzer when he made the decision to run for Congress. He wanted him to know about his past, so there wasn't a surprise attack from the Democrat Party. Seems Tim's honesty comes from WHO he belongs to. Who would have known that the vicious attacks would come from within his very own party?

What is quite offensive, is Tom Fetzer seems to think We The People are stupid and don't do our homework! No Tom, after the election of 2008...We The People will NEVER make that mistake again. You see Tom we knew of Tims past. We asked questions, CONTINUALLY. Tim was the ONLY candidate to answer the questionnaire that WTP of the Sandhills emailed to all of the candidates. And he has been open to all questions, especially the extremely personal ones. Tim and Colleen have not shied away from the tough questions. Seems the state GOP pick from Boone, didn't care what the voters of District 8 thought.

Of course, right off the bat, Tim, a man of principles, butt heads with Tom and the County Chair Suzanne Rucker. Suzanne had a dog in the fight and she made it known. Even when his numbers polled low across the district. Seems being the only candidate "born" in the 8th District didn't work for him.

Though her words were never in print, they were made quite apparent, at times by bizarre behavior. Case in point, at the March Fourth Friday in downtown Fayetteville, she didn't invite the Congressional candidates from all 3 districts, because she didn't want Tim there. When word got out about the Meet the Candidate, the candidates were told if there was room after all the local candidates set up then they could have one, but it was first come, first served. Even a candidate from another district fell prey to one of her lackeys "just helping out". I really hate slick "willies" pretending to be someone they are not...and he knows who he is.

So with all that said, let's get to the article. First may I ask, who of you has been thru a divorce? Was it an amicable one? If you haven't been thru one do you have a close friend that has? Divorce is ugly, it causes 2 people that once promised "for better, for worse" to become what outsiders would see as mortal enemies. I am a child from a broken home. I have been witness to things that children should never see, especially from their parents. One or both parties say things to make the other look bad to the judge. Especially when children are involved. So the court proceedings was nothing more than he said, she said.

Tim has admitted to making bad decisions when he was 14, 38 years ago.. Who among you can say they always made the right decisions at 14? I will be honest with you, I did not. I am embarrassed when I think about all that I did. However, after coming to Christ, I too am no longer the person I once was.

And how about that "collective endorsement" from the NC Congressmen Coble, Myrick, Jones, Foxx and McHenry? How arrogant of them to come out against the will of the people! Tim won the most votes. Do they really think they know what's best for us? No, these people are part of the ESTABLISHMENT, part of the problem and more than likely seeing dollar signs from the GOP.

I have received emails from several voters in the 8th District. I am including a couple of them to show that We The People CANNOT be controlled by any party. We The People are the 4th arm of the government, not the two parties bent on ruining this nation. All for the sake of CONTROL!

Tom,
In light of your recent attacks against Tim D'Annunzio and his campaign, you have broken the Plan Of Organization rules. Therefore, I formally request your resignation as Chairman. Instead of allowing the voters of the 8th District to decide for themselves who they want to represent them, you have simultaneously muddied the water with your slanderous rhetoric and disgraced the position that you currently hold. The NC Republican Party claims to be the party of honesty, integrity and letting the people decide. How dare you encroach on these principles! If you truly believe in and stand by your actions, I would suggest that you switch to the Democratic Party. You'll find many like-minded friends there, I'm sure. Otherwise, resign.

Eighth District Congressional Race
When I am going to vote for someone, I like to personally meet them, have an opportunity to ask them questions, and get my information “right from the horse’s mouth” so to speak. Last night, Mary and I attended a Town Hall meeting in Oakboro, NC for Tim D’Annunzio, candidate for Congress here in Stanly County.
Much has been said about Mr. D’Annunzio in the last few weeks by the Charlotte Observer, WBT radio, and the NC GOP. With all this “info” in mind, I was most interested to see what he had to say for himself in front of an audience of Stanly County citizens and others. Following are the notes we made at the meeting. You will of course decide for yourselves whom to cast your vote for in the runoff election between Tim and Harold Johnson.

Tim D’ Annunzio Town Hall
5/26/2010
Oakboro, NC
Personal Facts: Raised in a family of 8. Italian. Tough side of Philadelphia. Not a college grad. (More than half our President’s never went to college.) He is “self taught” from his life and business experiences. Considers himself a businessman, not a politician.
Will NOT run from attacks on his person. Believes in the Federalist Papers, as they describe what should be in the Constitution.
Believes in God, and that God has changed his life. Says “God made me as I am, and I will run from no one.” Afraid of no one in DC.
Ø OPENLY discussed his past, drug use, military career option, marriage, divorce, etc.
Ø On “Mass Media coverage in last few days: “They never exclude the “non-truths” otherwise they’d have no controversy to “sell” to their public. Sound bites and innuendos.
Ø Has no higher political ambitions. Will serve without a salary, and if he has to take one, will donate it to worthy causes.
Ø Believes the Government is the ONLY entity that survives by TAKING not PRODUCING money! Says the National Debt is in excess of 13 Trillion and is 90% of GDP! ($117,000 per family if you consider those who don’t pay taxes!)
Ø Current massive Government programs were never intended by Founding Fathers. Suggest you read “5000 Year Leap.” Outlines basic principles of the founding of our country.
Ø Believes the Dept. of Education should be dissolved and returned to the States to manage. Same for SS, Dept. of Energy and others.
Ø Term Limits: Apply to Supreme Court Justices as well as Representatives and Senators. NO lifetime jobs!
Ø Foreign Aid & the UN: NEVER give money to countries to use against us! Get out of the UN and quit funding it!
Ø Unions: Have served their purpose. Believes we should have let GM go bankrupt and then they could have renegotiated their Union contracts. Believes we bailed out the Union, not GM! Believes the Obama Administration is pro-Union-Government and anti the people’s Government.
Ø Government Spending: It’s out of control! MUST get a handle on spending. Must re-evaluate everything we spend money on! Government should be run like a business!
Ø IMMIGRATION: Supports Governor of Arizona and Immigration Laws. Must enforce laws. Not fair that illegals can got to a Doctor’s office or Hospital and receive equal or better care that citizens and taxpayers. We NEED TO KNOW WHO IS IN OUR COUNTRY! Finish the fence, deport illegal’s. Treat them fairly while in custody, provide transportation home. Money saved will more than finance that.
If you have any questions or comments about Mr. D’ Annunzio, feel free to call me. I’ll be happy to discuss his positions with you. Or, visit his website at www.timvote.com.
I believe the issues in the upcoming elections are the most important in my lifetime. I believe Tim stands for the things I believe in and would represent us well in Washington.
Thanks,
Reggie

So you see Tom, your character assassination attempt may just well have backfired!

Dear Heather,

Please do some research on your candidate before posting...you look like a fool. For one, he wasn't only 14 when he committed crimes but much older. His criminal history spans decades. And I know just because I do not support D'Annunzio (and I AM an avid Republican) that you and your gang of Tim lovers will call me anti-God and anti-American. However I cannot support this man and his record while my children look up to and respect such government officials. Not to mention his plans are unfeasible and his temper is still uncontrollable. The entire GOP establishment is against Tim for a reason-he is unfit for the position. And please get off the Tea Party and We the People endorsements--many of your notable members have started endorsing Johnson. Again Heather quit pointing fingers and do some research....however I do understand why you are afraid to ask your candidate personally!

Oh and before you call me stupid or other frivolous names just be assured that I am more educated than you. That is proven just through your support of Tim.

Anonymous said...

Heather Harrison, I just want to know when D'Annunzio stopped using heroin and stopped "smoking pot daily."

D'Annunzio will not talk about this and that's a BIG problem for him.

If D'Annunzio stopped using drugs when a young man he should tell us, if he was using drugs in the late 90s or early 2000s after his religious conversion he should tell us that too. The voters have a right to know everything about their candidates.

Anonymous said...

Can anyone prove that Tim actually graduated high school?

Think about it said...

Reggie Medlin has done an excellent job of putting into print as closely as anywhere I have seen exactly what Mr. D'Annunzio said at this Town Hall Meeting. I was also in attendance there and will verify and attest to the accuracy of Mr. Medlin's reporting of the facts.

Can we now get back on track and stop this bickering and back stabbing and dirty politics. Tom Fetzer has been sent a letter by Tim's Attorneys; let them fight that out in the courts.

The important thing for us voters are the issues and who is willing and able to go to Washington and change the path of destruction that both these political parties are intent upon taking us down.

We have to start putting people into place in DC who will fight for the American people and get away from business as usual and the same old trash that the two parties have been handing.

As Tim said in the Town Hall in Oakboro, he initially did not want to put "Republican" on his advertising and Bill Boards. However, for him to have any chance of defeating Kissell (Which should be our major goal in November) he had to run on the Republican ticket. He is realistically a Constitutional Republic candidate and that is pretty close to the Libertarian and Constitutional parties. Having said that let's look at what he knows about the constitution, how it limits government, how it protects states rights and reserves the power to govern to the people over the "Government".

1) Do you like the direction you see this country headed?
2) Do you want things to continue going in that direction and getting worse?

If you answer yes to either or both of these questions please show me where Harold Johnson has shown that he is capable of even stating an idea or a thought about how to do anything about it.

WELL HAROLD.... WHAT SAY YOU??
And by the way, I really don't care to hear from the nut job who portends to be HJ here on this blog. The Anonymous poster who said: "HEY TIMID,
WHEN I KICK YOUR AZZ IN THE RUNOFF ARE YOU GONNA VOTE FOR ME IN NOV OR FLAKE OUT?
THE BIG GUY " Talk about a Nut.

Let's get serious about changing our government and saving the Republic.

Can we stop the bickering, name calling and trash talk and enter into a meaningful discussion of the serious threat that we, our children, our grand children and our country face at this perilous time??
If not then what is the use of this discussion(?) after all?

As a former Chairman of the Cumberland County Republican Party, I too am appalled at the machinations ongoing to scuttle the candidacy of Tim D’ Annunzio
in the 8th District. As a Christian conservative myself, I take him at his word
when it comes to the changes he says he has made in his life since he began serving God.
Statements taken from divorce records, and some of them going back allegedly for decades to a man's youth, some of which may have been made off-the-cuff when he was
intoxicated, etc., are not valid basis for forming a legitimate judgment of a man’s present
character and abilities. In fact, I know many today among his detractors whose past statements
and actions I would consider to be far more of a detriment politically than
these alleged against Mr. D’Annunzio.

Harold Johnson may be a fine man, but once again, he is an “import” into this District from elsewhere and does not really belong here in the first place. It is
this sort of finagling that the RNC and state party does that REALLY irritates
us at the local level–and one I might add that causes a drop in the financial
support from regular donors that should be, but too often as we well know, is not forthcoming.

The added gambit of getting the NC GOP Congressional delegation to give a "hail Mary" endorsement of Mr. D’Annunzio’s opponent in a primary is especially galling and ill conceived. What ever happened to the so-called Reagan's 11th commandment of not criticizing fellow Republicans the RINOs forever whine about?

Robin Hayes’ current radio ads supporting Harold Johnson are without heft or credibility since it was Robin who LOST the District to the Democrat, Mr Kissell in the first place,
largely over his deciding vote in congress to pass the Bush CAFTA trading scheme
which has been the coup de grace to our district’s mill industries. Not only
this, but this treaty has accelerated the North American Union plan of the
globalists which we are all still being lied to about!

No, I am sorry, but I can’t see Mr. Johnson accomplishing much in Congress for us or for the nation as a whole by playing on this team.

Tim D’Annunzio has my support and endorsement as the best man we can send to Washington DC for some REAL hope and change which will only come through true
conservative and Constitutional lawmaking and governing.

I believe things are already too serious for us to deceive ourselves into fantasizing that all we need is more "checked-pants" Republican sophistication and subtle Obama-like nuance representing us in Washington. The issues of this hour call for a lot of hard work and energy and some vision that we have been sorely lacking these past several years. Mr. D'Annunzio, I believe, is best fitted to provided that for us

What better forum to do that than a televised debate standing across from your opponent. If these are untruths then set the record straight, let the voters decide. Attacking others for your shortcomings has never worked for any candidate. D'Annunzio's drug heroin use, smoking marijuana daily, arrest record and claims to be The Messiah are just too much for the average voter to dismiss. This is just too darn important. This is a harsh reality for those who have supported Mr. D'Annunzio but now choose to support another candidate. The voters are moving on and on June 23rd you will too.

If you people spouting off about bad Tim is, would go to one of his forums and ask questions, you would know the real truth.I was buying into all of this also, but decided to go and see Tim one last time.He explained that he had grown up in the slums in Philadelphia. At age 15 he did try herion and he did get in trouble. So he joined the Army(at age 15)He lied about his age. then he got out and came home and got into the same things as before. The judge suggested he join the military. He joined again and was in the Golden Knights parachute team.He got out of the Army with an honorable discharge. So I don't think he got kicked out the first time, or they would not have let him back in.After getting out of the Army, he went through a bad divorce. The court secretary for the Judge was his wife's sister, and they socked it to him with the child support.More than he could pay, but he tried and got behind. But when he finally got himself into a place where he was making more money, he caught it up. When his children became 18, they came to live with him. So if he was such a bad father, why would his children come to live with him when the became of age? The taxes that they are accusing him of not paying was from a business that he was buying that was behind on their taxes. After buying the business, he paid the back taxes off. So I just want to say that there is two sides to every story.I have personally listened to both men give their speeches, more that once.Harold Johnson is just the same old establishment republican. I also want to say that Tim has made amends for his past and to God. I am sure some of you have skeletons in your closets also.We all have done things that we wish we could take back. That's just how life is. I am voting for Tim because he believes in the same principle that I do.Tim has even stated that if elected, the pay he gets, he will give to charity.
