Waiting for Obama? Don't count on it

When the threat of rain forced Democratic National Convention organizers to move President Obama's acceptance speech from Bank of America Stadium to Time Warner Cable Arena last month, 65,000 people lost a chance to see history.

Campaign officials promised to try to arrange an event at which the president would meet with the ticket holders before the election.

With less than four weeks left, time is running out. And Thursday, campaign officials wouldn't commit to a presidential visit.

"We don't have any announcements," Obama communications director Brent Colburn said in a conference call with N.C. reporters. "Especially with 26 days we’re fluid about scheduling. There will be more travel to the state, but no specific announcements to make at this time."

Obama national field director Jeremy Bird said the campaign has committed to "principal visits." That's generally understood to include the candidates or their wives.

If there was ever a non-story....BO has a number of storms on the horizon right now!

They could be writing off NC already.

Wow shocker, and think about it Observer on a night that was down graded (like our country) to 0% chance of rain, why would The Greatest Orator Ever disapoint the legions of sycophants? Cause and here we go again, they were not going to get 65,000 not even close and his internal polling has him losing this state and it ain't even close.

So don't hold your breath, they came, they lied and used Russian warships and Turkish planes to "honor" our troops and booed God on the on the floor of the DNC.

It doesn't get any better than that.

I'm not voting for him but if he wants to come over to my house and have a can of beer or something, I'm hip.

"...a chance to see history."

Are you on freaking glue???

Oh he's history all right...

The only reason they moved Barry's speech from the stadium was because they were going to have lots of empty seats; the rain was a convenient excuse.

Yet another example of lies and deception to the American people. Obama's staff knew he couldn't fill the stadium after the endless gaffes, missteps and outright stupidity he has shown during his 3.5 years running our country into the ground.

And because he no longer will win NC, he won't honor his commitment or pledge to those who stupidly supported him.

He'll probably have some space on his calendar next January...

Skippy. You are lying aout no rain being predicted.
I had community credentials for the event and rain was predicted at least a week in advance and three days prior I saw weather reports saying it was definitely going to rain.
Ultimately, it did rain that day from approximatrly 4 - 5 pm during the convention. And I texted my wife when it started raining to let her know it turned out to be accurate.

To the person who claimed there the speech was moved because of empty seats. That is ridiculous. People waited 8 to 10 for those tickets. There weren't nearly enough.
I didn't care about seeing Obama but my wife did. We were fortunate enough that someone we know made sure we got tickets.
It did rain. And I was more than happy to watch it on TV instead of deal with crowds and party nut jobs

Suffolk University polling has already pulled out of FL, NC and VA. They said it would waste resources to contine. Romney is well ahead in all three according to their polling.

Just to prove everything to those naysayers, the local Democratic Party should have a rally for Obama in the Stadium and that would prove once and for all about the number of seats being filled or not.

Goodbye Barack. We love to see you go.

Skippy said "down graded to 0% chance of rain"...during speech time. It rained downtown at 2:45 that day for about 15 minutes (lightly). His speech was 6 hours later. By then the forecast had been downgraded to 0% chance of rain. I texted my wife that day as well, and said "it isn't going to rain during speech time and they know it, but have put it indoors....because the crowd would look like a Panthers crowd in third quarter of a game where they are losing by 3 tds.

The headline of his story sums up his entire Presidency and lack of action on improving things.

In NC, if you vote straight Democrat ticket you DO NOT vote for the President. You must first vote for the President separately...then vote the straight ticket. Don't be snookered by folks trying to confuse you.

The reality is that half the stadium would have been filled and looked terrible for the President. And the Observer was willing to accept his alibi without any question. But that's not surprising.

The major pollsters said Suffolk is small fry and lacks funds and don't agree with the decision. They are still polling NC because NC is still a tossup state.

The President has not ignored NC in the campaign. For starters, he held the most important single event of the Campaign here in Charlotte and Republicans are feeling left out.

He has also been through western NC and stopped for lunch in my town Boone.

Michelle came to Greensboro in May to give a splendid Commencement address at NC A& T University.

And these are just the events I know personally about.

So, let the Plutocrats whine and then get out and vote to re-elect President Obama--the people's President.

He is too busy to go to the NAACP convention(Mitt did), too busy to honor his promise to the people at the convention that had come from a distance to hear him speak. He has not said a word about minority unemployment or the excessive murder rates in the large cities. What is it about his policies that you like? Does he care at all??? I dont' see it.

And now for the rest of the story...

Insiders know the REAL reason why Obama cancelled and it wasnt the threat of rain as that just provided him with excuses and a fake cover. Its didnt rain either.

It was because of the perception of the new "Black Panther" symbolism and images after he and his AG Holder protected these murdering liberal racists who were preventing whites from voting in downtown Philly precincts in 2008. Holder called the new Black Panthers "my people" and dropped the lawsuit. Bad choice of words but they stuck.

Obama unwittingly subconsciously choose the "Black Panther" stadium but then knew if he went through with it the stigma would never die in an election year. He was right.

Perception is reality ...

Sorry to have to say this, but perception is just perception, just as bizarre fantasies are just bizarre fantasies.

"Obama unwittingly subconsciously" did what? You know this how? Give us a break.

No-brainer to move the event after all that. Maybe a good idea to also change the Carolina NFL franchise mascot or be like the Florida NHL team and use the tan species that like the Bobcat is native to that state and most of North America. End any controversy and canon fodder to avoid negative publicity and politicalization by opponents.
Barack Obama and his handlers were not fools to move the event for obvious political strategy reasons after the adverse storm that wasnt weather related.

Goot point.
Had BOA been the home of the NFL Carolina Tan Panthers native big yellow cat, there is no way in hell candidate Obama would have missed that 70k crowd for anything no questions axed.
Forget the phony rain excuse after con radio talk show hosts began calling him out on his selection of Black Panthers stadium in mockery that would have driven a nail in his political coffin early.

Welfare spending increases 32% under messiah?

Give him 4 more years and it may double especially wanting to legalize and flood 50 million more peasants from south of the border to take jobs.

Great success story Obama has been for sure. Libs definitey not the brightest bulb or sharpest knife in the drawer.
