Edwards to endorse Obama

A week after North Carolina's primary, Democrat John Edwards is about to endorse Barack Obama.

An Obama spokesman confirmed this afternoon that the former U.S. senator from North Carolina will endorse Obama within the hour in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Obama won Edwards' home state by 14 points. The N.C. victory, coupled with Hillary Clinton's narrow win in Indiana, has proved to be a tipping point in the campaign.

Shortly after Edwards dropped his own candidacy in January, Obama and Clinton both visited his home in Chapel Hill. But despite weeks of speculation, he declined to endorse either. Until now.

That's very disappointing. I voted for Hillary in the primary and will likely be voting for the Republican candidate in November... unless she's selected as VP. I'm so tired of the Democrats shooting themselves in the foot by selecting inadequate candidates for President. Hillary is the best shot the party has... and North Carolinians handed their votes over to a community organizer with no experience. What a shame.

Obviously, Obama's team coughed up a cabinet position for John's endorsement. But will anyone call this a bribe? Noooooo....

I'm with you ray! The democrats can't win and the republicans can't govern!

I am extremely disappointed in Edwards. Not only is he a coward for endorsing Obama in another state, who cares who Edwards is endorsing. He has been out for months. I agree this cost Obama a cabinet position, but will a spade be called a spade. Edwards loves the limelight hence he waits to almost the end to endorse when it really doesn't matter.

A John Edwards endorsement means exactly nothing. Edwards is a tool, and a broken one at that. His only political career is one of a constant candidate. He will never be elected to office again and apparently being an attorney is too much work and not enough of an ego stroke for him. What will he do? Maybe when there are'nt 2 America's he can go on the public dole and be paid the socialist wages that will sustain his muli-million dollar homesite in Chapel Hill. Yeah right....

Maybe Elizabeth Edwards will endorse Hillary Clinton, then Al and Tipper Gore will have to say who they are backing.
